The Râșnov Film and History Festival (FFIR) is a multidisciplinary cultural event held annually in Râșnov, Romania, founded in 2009 with the aim of highlighting an important chapter of Romanian and international cinema while fostering meaningful public debate on long-term historical, social, and political themes. Conceived as a thoughtful and accessible festival—without red carpets, glamour, or sensationalism—FFIR combines a documentary film competition with public debates, lectures, concerts, theater performances, exhibitions, and a summer school, encouraging critical thinking and dialogue. With open-air film screenings and a strong educational component, the festival has established itself as a unique platform in Romania’s cultural landscape, dedicated to understanding the present through history, cinema, and informed discussion.
