Sacrum Profanum

Sacrum Profanum is an acclaimed Kraków festival dedicated to 20th- and 21st-century music, combining contemporary classical, avant-garde, experimental and electronic works. It began as a project juxtaposing sacred and secular repertoire in unconventional venues (like the Sendzimir Steelworks hall) and later moved toward thematic editions focusing on specific composers, scenes or concepts. The festival commissions new works, collaborates with leading ensembles and presents cross-genre projects, often blurring boundaries between academic music, sound art and club aesthetics. It is regarded as one of the most important platforms for new music in Poland, attracting a specialist yet open-minded audience and receiving international recognition within the contemporary-music community.
